SACC Statement on Passing of Minister Edna Molewa

It is with sadness that we learnt earlier today of the passing of Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa.

Ms Molewa valiantly fought our environmental struggles, including playing a significant role in leading South Africa’s war on rhino poaching, both locally and internationally.

“It is notable that she departs today on 22 September, a day which is also recognised as World Rhino Day. As SACC, we would like to convey our sincerest condolences to Minister Molewa’s family, the government, and the governing party,” said Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana, General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches (SACC).
