Media Release
The South African Council of Churches (SACC) is horrified at the
brutal attack on a mosque in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal yesterday, and
condemns this violent act in the harshest possible terms.
βSuch ruthlessness has no place in South Africa, let alone in a
religious context. We are horrified that such an execution can be
practiced in this environment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the
family of the deceased, and those currently in hospital,β said Bishop
Malusi Mpumlwana, SACC General Secretary.
We call for speedy apprehension of the perpetrators and ask all South
Africans to offer a prayer, as the Verulam Muslim community comes
together today.
